Happy Birthday Ansel Adams...

Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico 1941 by Ansel Adams

I think a lot about this little graveyard located about 30 miles from where I live in Santa Fe. I first saw the photograph in a gallery in Birmingham Michigan—the Halstead 831 and met the photographer Ansel Adams there while he was hanging his show. The day was one that when it was over I saw my future and my life’s path both laid out for me. That was over 40 years ago and I have never looked back.

I had the good fortune of seeing Ansel several times after that…at workshops I attended with him, at the Detroit Museum of Art where he lectured and of course through his photographs that speak to the incredible power and potential that photography has to inspire and speak to the human soul.

Happy 120th Birthday Ansel Adams. Your spirit guided and changed so many of us.
